Approach

In my practice, I draw on the symbolism behind the name Galena, which stems from my full name. Galena also refers to a mineral known for its grounding and healing properties, representing the pursuit of harmony. This dual inspiration shapes my approach, blending clinical expertise with a holistic perspective to help clients align their mind, body, and spirit, fostering personal growth and resilience.
Galena provides an integrative, person-centered approach, ensuring that each therapeutic journey is uniquely tailored to the individual's specific needs, challenges, and goals. This approach is rooted in a deep understanding of the complexity and uniqueness of every person's experiences. Drawing from a broad spectrum of evidence-based treatment modalities, Galena combines clinical expertise with compassionate care to create a safe and nurturing environment for exploration and growth.
Key elements of this approach include:
-
Humanistic therapy: Emphasising personal growth, self-awareness, and the individual's capacity for change, this modality fosters an empathetic and non-judgmental space where clients can feel seen, heard, and understood. It encourages individuals to connect with their authentic selves and uncover their innate potential
-
Psychodynamic therapy: This approach delves into unconscious processes, past experiences, and relational patterns that may influence current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By exploring these deeper layers, clients gain insights into unresolved issues, enhancing self-understanding and fostering healthier relationships.
-
Mindfulness-based practices: Integrating mindfulness techniques helps clients develop present-moment awareness, reduce stress, and build emotional resilience. These practices promote a sense of grounding and balance, equipping clients with tools to navigate life’s challenges more effectively.
-
Internal Family Systems (IFS)-Informed Therapy: Grounded in the belief that the mind is composed of different parts, IFS focuses on understanding and harmonizing these internal aspects. Clients are guided to identify, understand, and heal wounded parts of themselves while fostering a strong connection with their core, authentic Self.
By blending these approaches, Galena Psychology aims to address the multifaceted nature of human experience, empowering clients to embrace their strengths, navigate difficulties, and create meaningful, lasting change. This holistic and flexible method ensures that each person receives the care and support they need to thrive in their personal and relational lives.
Through warmth, compassion, and attunement, I support clients in embracing their vulnerability, building inner strength, and achieving meaningful personal transformation.
